Scholarship
The Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators’ (MMABSE) Burns-Starms Scholarship fund was established in honor of two of MMABSE’s deceased past presidents, Mr. Cloyce Burns, and Mr. Robert Starms. Their vision, through the MMABSE organization, was to motivate, encourage, and assist African American students toward excellence in education.
This scholarship award is to provide funds for the purchase of books for college coursework. Scholarship recipients will be announced in April.
The following criteria will be used to select the recipients:
- Milwaukee students graduating in May/June of 2022 and enrolling
in a college or university in the fall of 2022. - A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (Copy of high school
transcript attached to the application that includes first-semester final
grades). - A statement (not more than one page) of career aspirations and goals
- At least two letters of recommendation. These can be from teachers,
employers, pastors, or someone else who knows your attributes.
Scholarship award recipients will be required to submit a copy of their college acceptance letters and first-semester college schedules to the committee prior to
receiving funds.
Completed application forms must be postmarked or emailed no later than Friday, March 25, 2022, to Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators, Inc. Post Office Box 276 Milwaukee, WI 53201-0276.
